What is your energy anatomy

and how does it affect your health & wellbeing

Your physical body would cease to function were it not for the flow of vital energy from your energy anatomy.

Your energy body houses the fundamental force that keeps your body functioning, healthy and strong.

It’s when the flow of energy in your energy anatomy is less than optimal that you start to see and feel issues that counter your wellbeing.

There’s a lot of information out there about energy anatomy. My aim in this post is to outline the basics of your energy anatomy, and how it plays an important role in the level of harmony you feel.

The Aura

Your aura is made up of layers of energy which surround your body.

The layer closest to your body is the etheric layer – this is the easiest one to see and feel. Its state indicates the immediate health or disease of the physical body. Its strength reflects the strength of your life force.

Other layers of your aura have a more direct connection with your emotional, mental and spiritual state and wellbeing. Overall, the health and quality of your aura has a direct impact on the quality of your feelings, and how balanced you feel.

Your aura can become contracted during times when you feel unwell or insecure. Being in your shell quite literally relates to the shell of your aura energy contracting and coming closer to your physical body.

Your aura can become more expansive during times of inspiration, elation, joy, and a feeling of connectedness with others.

It also serves as a means of energetic protection from external energy influences. Quite literally, your aura serves as a barrier from other people’s energies. This is very helpful to avoid picking up on other people’s states, moods and influences.

When this function is weak or impaired, energies from the outer world tend to merge and mix with yours. Knowing who you are can become compromised by this blending of energies.

People may intentionally allow energies from other people to blend with their own because of a lack of self-love, or if they are disconnected from their personal power, or if they seek for answers outside themselves. This merging of people’s energies creates an aura of lowered vitality, and energetically can lead to imbalance and illness.

Some ways to clear your aura

Walking along the beach

Negative ions from sea spray and waves, or from sea water in general can help to cleanse your aura.

Shower

Spend some time under the spray of water coming from your shower head, and visualise negative energies being cleansed from your aura, and being washed off you and down the drain.

Aura Spray

The Essential Oils in aura sprays are chosen because they have a vibration that assists your aura to be cleared of non-harmonious energies. Spraying the particles of these essential oils around you and through your aura can have a very cleansing effect.

Energy Healing

Having an Energy Healing session usually provides energy clearing for your aura, which helps to clear non-harmonious energies, or energies which you may have picked up from other people or places.

The Chakras

A chakra is a vortex of energy in the rough shape of an inverted cone.

There are 7 major chakras which are the most well known – the Crown, Third Eye, Throat, Heart, Solar plexus, Sacral and Base chakras.

Each chakra interfaces to your endocrine system and nervous system. It’s through this energetic-physical interface that the energetic state of health of your chakras can affect you physically.

The energetic connection between each chakra and your endocrine glands, is generally recognised as follows:

  • Crown – Pineal gland
  • Third Eye – Pituitary gland
  • Throat – Thyroid/parathyroid glands
  • Heart – Thymus gland
  • Solar Plexus – Pancreas
  • Sacral – Sexual organs
  • Base – Adrenal glands

Each chakra is also understood to have a close association with different aspects of your life development, relating to your beliefs, attitudes, fears and understandings.

Base chakra

Relates to your sense of safety and security in the physical world. Feeling unsafe, or a fear of not having the necessities of life for yourself or your family, correlates to having an imbalance in this chakra.

Sacral chakra

Relates to issues of power in the external world, primarily via sexual power and financial power. For this chakra to be balanced, one must learn about self-worth without self-worth being associated with material objects, sex or money.

This chakra also associates with having a healthy sense of creativity.

Solar Plexus chakra

Relates to a healthy sense of personal power. Having a fear of intimidation, rejection, or a lack of self-esteem all point to an imbalance in this chakra.

This is also an area of the body that is a main receiver of first impressions you receive from people, places or situations. Your gut-instinct is a highly intuitive response generated from the impressions you receive from your Solar Plexus chakra.

Heart chakra

Acts as a compass for what feels true and authentic for you.

This is a central chakra and is pivotal in the healthy functioning of your energy system. When your heart is open and you feel that love is in the centre of your life and that you have a strong loving support system, you are well equipped to handle the stresses and crises in life.

Throat chakra

When balanced, you feel empowered to speak your truth. You typically feel a strong sense of willpower to keep your intentions clearly focused, and make choices that empower your ambitions.

When imbalanced, you typically experience a fear of ridicule or criticism if you speak up.

Third Eye chakra

Relates to your use of knowledge, higher reasoning, and reflects your intuitive skills.

A balanced third eye chakra will give you a strong sense of transcendent thinking – which is a deeper way of thinking your way through life through introspection, self-examination and a philosophical or spiritual outlook about the purpose of life.

Crown chakra

This is the entry point of your life force – an invisible current of energy that endlessly pours into your energy system nourishing every part of your body, mind and spirit.

The state of health of your crown chakra reflects the state of health of your values, and ethical standards that you hold yourself in alignment with.

Some ways to balance your chakras

Affirmations/Focus Statements

Highly targeted affirmations or focus statements that evoke an emotional or inspirational response in you, can have a very balancing effect on the chakra(s) most closely associated with the feeling or principle behind the affirmation/focus statement.

Meditation

Meditation can be used as a way to reconnect with your body, your spirit and the Divine. The energetic interplay of this connection can have a very healing effect on your chakras.

Energy Healing

Having an Energy Healing session typically provides energy balancing for each of your chakras. A session may also provide feedback about the state of each of your chakras, thereby giving you some insight into the areas of disharmony that may be affecting you.

The Meridians

The main function of your meridians is to distribute energy all throughout your body.

The meridian energy network weaves through every part of your body, including organs, tissues and muscles.

To help with understanding and charting the meridian pathways around your body, meridians are divided into segments – the twelve main meridians named predominantly after the organs with which they associate, and 8 less known extraordinary meridians.

Overall, the meridian system is one huge interconnected and continuous energy highway.

You could imagine a meridian being like a river of light. Some clairvoyants are able to see them in this way.

The flow of energy along the meridian can become constricted, resulting in the energy feeling empty along that pathway. You can view this like the flow of water in a stream reducing to a trickle.

A meridian pathway can also feel quite swollen and full, akin to the flow of water in a river raging after a flood.

Meridian energy can also become stagnant, like a stagnant lake which is not being refreshed with running water.

Depending on where, how long, or how strong – all these characteristics have a direct impact on your health and wellbeing. Not just physically, but emotionally, mentally and spiritually too.

Daily stress and emotional stress can cause meridian energy to become depleted, stagnant, congested, overactive, or disrupt the energy flow along the meridians.

Acupoints are little whirlpools of energy, which act as access points to meridian energy. They look like mini chakras – small inverted vortices of energy.

Each meridian has a series of acupoints located along the length of that meridian.

Acupoints allow you to interface and influence the energy in the associated meridian.

Some ways to help balance your meridians

Tapping techniques like EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) are a good way to reset and restore a degree of balance in the energy flow of your meridians.
Therapies like Acupuncture or Acupressure interface to your meridian energy through acupoints – either through the use of needles or fingers. Both therapies employ energy and intention to achieve balance of energy flow through the meridian.
The hypnotic rhythmic bodywork of Relaxation Therapy helps to promote balanced meridian flow. The combination of acupressure, body rocking, stretching and pressing, as well as energetic bodywork all work in harmony to promote greater harmony in meridian energy flow.

Summary of the flow of energy in your Energy Anatomy

Universal Energy continuously flows into your body through your crown chakra.

As it travels down your spine, the energy feeds into each of the chakra centres.

This energy is also fed into the meridian system, from which it gets distributed to every part of your body.

Energy also gets circulated throughout your aura.

Universal energy flowing into your body feeds and replenishes your energy systems. The energy finds its way out through chakra points in your palms and the soles of your feet.
